Knowing Your Patch - What you need to do to research and understand your seat. Whether applying for a Council or Parliamentary seat, you need to be able make the case as to why you are the right candidate. That means knowing the seat as well as yourself.

Virtual Relationships - The internet is a key campaign tool for candidates. It is a vital tool that needs to be used judiciously, effectively and safely. Learn how to make the most of RSS, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Blogs. (This session does not include Twitter which is covered in depth at our Campaign Communications workshop).

Volunteers & Cold Calling – Your relationship with your Association is vital to your success as a Candidate. Come and get tips and strategies for working well with volunteers. You will also need to become comfortable “cold calling” voters – otherwise known as canvassing – so come and practice ahead of the real thing.

Applications & Process. Applying for roles in public life is not the same as applying for a job. You’ll need to know how to approach the forms and how to approach the interviews – especially the PAB. Qualified political interviewers will guide you through the process and give you advice and feedback throughout the day.
