Thank you to everyone who joined Women2Win at either or both of our events at this year’s Conservative Party Conference.
On Sunday evening we held a drinks reception which gave all our supporters, from current MPs to those at the beginning stages of their journey, a chance to network and share experiences. There were fabulous and inspiring speeches from Baroness Jenkin, The Rt Hon Nicky Morgan, The Rt Hon Theresa May MP and Guy Opperman MP all of whom emphasised the importance of perseverance to achieving success as a candidate.
At a bright and early 8am the following morning we hosted a session “Women2Win On Selection” where the audience heard from 3 newly-selected candidates: Seema Kennedy (South Ribble), Maria Caufield (Lewes), Nusrat Ghani (Wealden) on how they came through the selection process on top. In addition, we held a mock selection with 3 female MPs facing rigorous questioning from Tim Montgomerie and some more off the wall interjections from our strategically placed “typical audience member” (aka Guy Opperman MP) to win the nomination for our fictional constituency. Their 3 minute speech and follow up questions in front of an audience were the same format that each of our MP’s, Claire Perry MP, Penny Mordaunt MP and Harriet Baldwin MP successfully negotiated to win the candidacy in their respective constituencies and what any prospective candidates will face. This was an invaluable opportunity to see the different styles employed by each of these impressive women and we are very grateful to them for giving up their time.
Thank you to all our speakers and everyone who joined us at our events this year.
