Women2Win Event - How to get selected.

 

On Monday 29th in the Conservative Home tent between 8-9.30am we are holding a very useful event for candidates and those interested in the selection process. 

To start us off, three wonderful Women2Win candidates will be talking about how they got selected and they will be sharing their tips and advice with you. This will be chaired by Guy Opperman MP (Co-Chair of W2W) and he will moderate questions from the audience. 

The candidates speaking are:

• Nusrat Ghani, PPC for Wealden
• Seema Kennedy, PPC for South Ribble
• Maria Caulfield, PPC for Lewes

 This will be a great opportunity to hear from female candidates who have been successful in the selection process, and to ask their advice on how to get selected. The second half of the event will be a Mock Selection with three different MPs showing you how to give a good speech and how to answer tricky questions in Selections. The MPs participating are: 

• Penny Mordaunt MP
• Therese Coffey MP.
• Claire Perry MP

 This will be chaired by Tim Montgomerie . Each "candidate" will give a 3 minute speech on their constituency, followed by questions from Tim and then questions from the audience. We are not letting the MPs have sight of the questions in advance, so this really will be a great opportunity to see how to handle unexpected or difficult questions. All three of our MPs are wonderful speakers in their own ways and have very different styles so there should be something to suit everyone. If you are a candidate, this will be an incredibly useful experience. For supporters, this is a great insight into what selection interviews are really like! We are unable to reserve spaces at this event so we would advise arriving on time. Last year, people had to be turned away at the door and we would hate for supporters to miss out on this event.
