A workshop designed to help you understand how to access board roles in the Public Sector. These roles include Non Executive / Independent Director roles with Non-Departmental Government Bodies (including Regulatory bodies), Executive Agencies and NHS Trusts as well as Local Government Bodies.
The public sector touches on all aspects of society, from defence, health, education and transport to science, arts and culture. So whatever your background and interests, there is likely to be a public body that touches on it. However the application process is complicated and time-consuming so the better prepared you are, the more likely you are to get that appointment you really want.
This Masterclass is based on WOB's popular Getting Started workshop, but focuses on the specifics of Public Sector roles and the public appointments process. It will cover:
• About directorship; the role, duties and responsibilities of non executives in the Public Sector.
• Public sector appointments: the range of roles available and how to navigate the public appointments process
• Doing yourself justice when preparing a board CV and applying for Public Sector roles.
Presenters include Ros Lowe CBE who has extensive experience on health and education boards, Rowena Ironside, Chair of WOB UK and Caroline Emmet and Sarah Laessig, two WOB members who have recently navigated the public sector application process and will share their experiences of what to do and not to do.
